The South Worcestershire Councils (SWC) i.e. Malvern Hills, Worcester City and Wychavon started a review of the SWDP in late 2017. This is in line with new Government requirements that local plans should be updated every five years, and therefore a revised SWDP is required by 2021.
The review will provide an updated plan period to the year 2041.
Potential Sites for Housing and Employment Development - Call for Sites Consultation
As part of the SWDP Review, the SWC undertook a “Call for Sites” inviting landowners or their agents/developers to submit land for potential future housing and employment development. Subsequently the SWC will publish a Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment (SHELAA – previously only land available for housing was requested hence Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment). This will provide the SWC with evidence which will inform the spatial development option which will then be set out in the Preferred Option that will be consulted upon in November 2019.
Call for Sites Suggestion Forms should have been returned by no later than 5pm on Monday 2 July 2018.
Please note, if you have submitted a site/land in the past through the earlier SHLAA process you STILL needed to submit the information again. This is in line with the new General Data Protection Regulations whereby we are not allowed to retain your details without your express consent.

SHELAA Methodology Consultation
The SWC were also updating the SHELAA methodology that explains how land / sites submitted will be assessed for their development potential. This is in line with changes in national planning policy that now require Councils to assess housing and employment sites under the same process. If you wished to make comments on the methodology, these should be made by no later than 5pm on Monday 2 July 2018.
